The Anambra House of Assembly, which was sealed by the Police, two weeks ago, following the crises that erupted in the Assembly, has now been unsealed.
According to PUNCH, this new development was confirmed in a statement released by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, on Wednesday.
Mohammed said the unsealing of the complex was sequel to the request in a letter by the leadership of the Assembly to do so.
He further added that sealing the complex earlier was to secure the premises, and also to avoid the breakdown of law and order in House of Assembly.
Mohammed also assured lawmakers of security arrangements to keep the complex in peace and tranquility, as to ensure safety of lives and properties.
The statement reads in part: ”The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Baba Umar has ordered for the Assembly Complex to be unsealed with immediate effect.
”Meanwhile, adequate security is being provided around the complex to provide safety and security in the area”.
Recall that the Assembly was in crises over the alleged impeachment of the Speaker of the House, Rita Maduagwu, and her replacement with Ikem Uzoezie.
